Angela van Boxtel is a Dutch, (Noosa based) Eco Artist & Designer cleverly reusing waste materials and transforming them into sculptures, fashion, design & art pieces. Mostly focusing around the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans.
She has crocheted over 10.000 plastic bags into her work. Her ‘Teeny Greeny Plastic Bag Bikini’ has been acquired by the Manly Art Gallery & Museum historic fashion collection.
Her work opens up discussions about our environment and our behaviors within. She also creatively transforms broken surfboards into art pieces; her colorful surf chalkboards have been featured at many art, cultural, environmental & surf events.
Surfboards are made of Styrofoam – once broken they end up in landfill. We can enjoy the ocean but have a responsibility towards it. Away is not away, let’s talk, let’s care, let’s leave a legacy of a responsible surfing culture.
Van Boxtel is the founder of Waste to Design – encouraging our businesses and communities to rethink waste as a resource and creating a future of a circular economy.
